Public Consultation on the Design of a Land Recovery Programme

 Consultation will remain open for 12 weeks: from 07 February to 04 May 2025

Consultation topic:

The Falkland Islands Government (FIG) is seeking input from the public, landowners, and other stakeholders to shape a proposed Land Recovery Programme. This initiative is designed to address environmental, economic, and social challenges affecting rural landscapes and communities in the Falklands. By focusing on restoring degraded land, improving agricultural productivity, and protecting biodiversity, the programme aims to support sustainable farming and the overall well-being of the camp community.

The consultation has identified three key areas for discussion:

  1. Goals and Scale – What should the programme’s main objectives be, and how much land should it cover?
  2. Funding – What payment models would work best to support farmers and ensure value for money?
  3. Eligibility and Participation – Who should be able to take part, and what conditions should be attached to funding?
