Camp Airstrips

'Camp' is the name given to any area outside of the country capital, Stanley; it is derived from the Spanish word campo, meaning 'countryside'.

The Camp Airstrips are uncertificated/unlicensed and are primarily for the support of the FIGAS (Falkland Islands Government Air Service) commercial air transport operation. Generally, visiting aircraft do not land anywhere other than at Mount Pleasant or Stanley Airport.

The Falkland Islands Civil Aviation Department assist FIGAS with annual airstrip inspections, and the compiling of reports, in order to facilitate safe operations at each strip.
