To help mark the occasion of our 40th anniversary, the Falkland Islands Government ran a competition inviting local children w to submit drawings inspired by the 40th anniversary theme of 'Looking Forward at Forty'. From all of the entries received, Kaia Manu-Stephenson and Laura Bates were chosen as the two worthy winners and local artist Julie Halliday was then commissioned by the Falkland Islands Goverment to develop a combined logo that truly reflects the spirit and the character of the Falkland Islands.

Chair of the 40th Anniversary Commitee, Phyl Rendell, said: "I would like to thank all of the children who took part in this competition and offer my congratulations to Laura and Kaia. The Committee feel that this new design reflects the spirit of the anniversary and I would like to thank Julie Halliday who took elements from the winning designs and combined these with aspects from the 30th anniversary logo. As a result, the new logo contains a nod to the past, but in asking children to put forward their ideas we are firmly looking forwards.”

The logo is available in colour and black and white versions, and will be used on a range of materials to publish, commemorate and celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Falkland Islands in 2022.
