‘No questions asked’ KEMH walking aid amnesty

  • Do you have any hospital walking aids that you no longer need?
  • Did you borrow some equipment but forget to return it to the hospital?
  • Do you have a family member or friend who has an outstanding walking aid in their home?

Now is your chance to help KEMH save money and help other people by returning any walking aids which were previously on loan, but are no longer needed, under a 'no questions asked’ amnesty.

Walking aids are frequently lent to patients to use during treatment and convalescence. Once the patient is better, or no longer requires the item, then it can be refurbished and given to someone else who needs it.

Simply drop off your item to the reception at KEMH with the name of the person who the aid was issued to at your earliest convenience. Just like any other amnesty, if you bring back equipment the hospital will not ask any awkward questions, staff will gratefully receive whatever is handed back.

Examples of walking aids include:

  • Wheelchairs
  • Walking sticks
  • Crutches
  • Walking/Zimmer frames
  • Kitchen/bathroom aids

The amnesty will run from 8 – 23 April and items will be accepted at any time of the day or night. Again, no questions will be asked, this is simply an exercise to help the hospital recover walking aids, which can then be loaned to other patients to help with their recovery and mobility.
