Highways Section

Our team consists of a work force of approximately 30 employees, supplemented with various local contractors, who undertake the following services islands-wide:

  • Planned and reactive maintenance
  • Capital improvements for all roads
  • Jetty and sea ramp maintenance
  • Culvert replacement and maintenance
  • General maintenance and repairs to bridges
  • New Haven and Port Howard port maintenance
  • Stanley Airport maintenance
  • Waste management at Mary Hill and Megabid tips

Weight Limit Exemption

The weight limit of all roads is 38 tonnes in the summer with the majority of roads operating under a reduce weight limit of 15 tonnes during winter months. Exemptions from the weight limits ordinances can be applied for through the Roads Engineer.
