Opportunity to comment- Draft Economic Development Strategy

Consultation open from Monday 13th April to Thursday 30th April

Public Meeting Launch on Monday 13th April

 

The FIG Policy Department has published the draft Economic Development Strategy (2026 – 2040) for comment. This is an opportunity for stakeholders and the wider community to review the document and provide feedback ahead of it being put forward to Executive Council in June 2026.

The document Draft Strategy for Public Commnet- Economic Development Strategy can be downloaded below, and it is reccomended you read this document before you complete the survey. This document sets out the current economic context domestically, regionally and globally, and details the vision and strategy for sustainable growth between now and 2040. It seeks to build on existing strengths, explore new opportunities and mitigate against potential economic risks, supporting prosperity in the Islands.

To commence the consultation period a public meeting with MLAs was held at 17:00 on Monday 13th April at the Chamber of Commerce, to provide interested parties with an overview of the strategy. The presentation slides presented at this event are downloadable below.

In addition, a number of briefing sessions will be held on West Falkland with the Senior Policy Advisor. The dates and times will be updated and available here:

  • Fox Bay – Monday 27th April at 14:00, Fox Bay Social Club.
  • Port Howard – Tuesday 28th April at 14:00, Maria Motel, Port Howard.
