The Opportunity: To work in partnership with the carers and families of those individuals and other professionals to provide direct support with personal and social needs to enable individuals to develop their potential and maintain or achieve independence.

Essential criteria an NVQ Level 3 in Social Care or equivalent and English GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent level of education, a full driving licence and significant experience of working with children and adults in either formal or informal settings.

The Opportunity: Based in the Falkland Islands Government London Office (FIGO), this is an exciting opportunity to work in a busy Central London location, to provide a welcoming face and first-class reception service at Falkland House, provide administrative support to the Medical Coordinator and Travel Coordinator postholders including occasional holiday cover for both roles, and provide general administrative support to the wider FIGO team.

Essential criteria to include a minimum GCSE Grade C/Grade 4 in English and Maths (or equivalent) with a minimum of two years relevant experience in a busy reception or customer services environment. The postholder should have a pleasant manner, excellent verbal and written communication skills, good secretarial/administrative skills, and an organised and methodical approach to work with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office computer programmes.

EDUCATION DEPARTMENT - Cover Supervisor

Closing Date:  20 February 2026

 

The Opportunity: To supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers. To supervise students engaged in learning activities and to provide objective and accurate feedback to the teacher on the conduct of the lesson.  To give instructions for the lesson as provided in advance by a teacher and the primary focus of the role will be to maintain good order and to keep students on task.

Essential Criteria for the role include an ‘A’ Level/NVQ 3 Level or equivalent, (including evidence of a good level of literacy and numeracy, i.e. GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths), have at least 2 years of experience working with and supervising children of the relevant age and the ability to manage and supervise the behaviour of a class of students. The start date of this role is the 01 of September 2026.

EMERGENCY SERVICES & ISLAND SECURITY - Mechanic/Firefighter

The Opportunity: Assist with the provision of an efficient and effective Fire and Rescue Service for the safety and protection of all within the Falkland Islands, (land, sea and air).

Essential Criteria for the role include being a qualified mechanic to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent), or the ability to demonstrate a solid track record or experience in mechanics (i.e. 5 years as a mechanic working to a similar level) and the ability to organise maintenance schedules and keep accurate records.

Job Title:  Advanced Practitioner 

FIG Grade C starting salary £42,641 to £49,090 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

The Opportunity: 

To undertake professional and comprehensive casework for a complex caseload of children and young people, working with family trauma and parenting difficulties to improve the Department’s ability to manage complex family cases in the long-term.

Essential criteria: 

For the role include a degree in Social Work, five years relevant post qualifying experience in the UK, good organisational and planning skills and a proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Contract Type: This is a permanent post on standard FIG terms and conditions.

Job Description - Advanced Practitoner

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT - Casual Power Station Operator - Power & Electrical Section

Closing Date:  13 February 2026

 

The Opportunity: To generate and distribute electricity to Stanley and the surrounding area and to assist the Mechanical staff with their tasks when not required on watch.

Essential Criteria includes a high level of literacy and numeracy, good knowledge and a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with diesel engines or in electrical engineering. The postholder must have the ability to follow safe working practices and procedures, and understand and follow written instructions and react appropriately to feedback.

This is a casual post which can involve extensive periods of lone working and so the successful candidate must be able to make all decisions associated with production either in normal running or in and emergency situation.

The Opportunity: 

As part of the multidisciplinary team within the Operating Department the post holder will play a vital role in the day-to-day operation and smooth running of the department. You will provide skilled assistance to clinicians during the induction and maintenance of anaesthesia and undertake both scrubbing and circulating duties within a wide range of surgical specialities.

to include first level degree, or equivalent, in theatre enabling current registration with The Nursing Midwifery Council/Allied Health Professional or equivalent together with 7 years’ effective experience as a Theatre Practitioner.
