Offshore Petroleum – Sustainability and Socio-Economic Officer

FIG Grade C starting salary £43,141 – £53,055 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

The Opportunity: to be responsible for managing all data collection, analysis and development of data management systems associated with both the environmental and the socio-economic sustainability of the offshore petroleum industry. This will include the analysis and fulfilment of national and international reporting and data sharing obligations. Additional to this, the post holder will be responsible for providing the secretariat function for the Falkland Islands Environmental Impact Offsetting Trust.

Essential criteria: to include a bachelor’s degree and significant experience (7+ years minimum) in sustainability, environmental and/or socio-economic research and data analysis. Experience of oil and gas projects would be advantageous Additionally, extensive experience of operating within a public sector or research organisation (government or non-government) and understanding complex datasets and successfully delivering research projects to deadlines.

Learning Support Assistants –FICS, IJS & Camp Education

FIG Grade G1 starting salary £21,635 - £24,779 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

The Opportunity: Falkland Islands Community School, Infant Junior School & Camp Education are looking for full time Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to work Mon-Fri 08.00 – 16.30 for both Primary & Secondary Schools. The posts involve supporting and assisting students with their educational and social progress and helping develop their learning and understanding. 

Some roles include supporting children with complex special educational needs and challenging behaviours. 

Essential criteria for the role include evidence of a good level of literacy and numeracy i.e. GCSE Grade 4/Grade C or above (or equivalent), in English and Maths, an ability to prioritise tasks, use initiative and a capacity to work with children with behavioural and emotional needs.  Applicants must also have patience, flexibility and be competent at delivering instructions.

Higher Learning Support Assistants –FICS, IJS & Camp Education

FIG Grade F starting salary £25,450 - £28,201 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

The Opportunity: Falkland Islands Community School, Infant Junior School & Camp Education are looking for full time Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work Mon-Fri 08.00 – 16.30 to work across both the Primary & Secondary School. The post involves teaching and supporting children with special educational needs and mentor newly recruited Learning Support staff.

Essential criteria for the role include a minimum of 5 years’ experience of working as an experienced LSA or higher, in either primary or secondary sectors, demonstrated experience across at least two Key Stages a Level 2 NVQ Supporting Teaching and Learning in School/working towards or equivalent in relevant areas and possess a good level of computer literacy and able to present reports and spreadsheet data on SEN students.

EMERGENCY SERVICES & ISLAND SECURITY - Secure Communications Engineer

The Opportunity: Reporting to the Chief Resilience Officer and working as part of a multi-agency team, the post holder will provide technical support to critical emergency services systems and provide technical expertise across FIG. This requires the incumbent to work in collaboration with a range of FIG departments and external stakeholders and provide advice and engineering support in multi-agency environment.

Essential criteria: A recognised Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (or the ability to demonstrate 10 years’ experience of working at this level), continuous professional development in RF systems or broadcast technology, 10 years’ technical experience in the telecoms/radio communications/broadcast sector.

Additional Information: Due to the highly sensitive nature of this role, successful candidates will be required to undergo security vetting and background checks; including appropriate security clearance relevant to the role.

The Opportunity: To provide efficient oversight of harbour and port operations, including vessel traffic monitoring, promulgation of maritime safety information and the control of vessel movements within the main harbours of the Falkland Islands. This will include upholding regulations, ensuring that FIG safety and security is maintained, supporting the provision of harbour control services and ensuring the safe transit and handling of vessels into and out of the port.  

Essential criteria include holding an International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) Officer of the Watch (Deck) REG II/1 (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency or Vessel Traffic Service Operator certification and 5 years’ relevant experience.

Job Title:  Advanced Practitioner - Adult Social Worker 

FIG Grade: Grade C starting salary £42,641 - £49,090 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

The Opportunity:   To lead on adult safeguarding and complex cases, delivering statutory social work services in accordance with relevant legislation, including the Assessment and Safeguarding of Adults Ordinance 2020 and the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, in preparation for the introduction of the Mental Capacity Ordinance. The role involves multi-departmental working, developing and delivering training on adult safeguarding and the forthcoming Mental Capacity Ordinance, and establishing internal procedures to ensure effective oversight of deprivation of liberty applications and reviews.

Essential criteria to include a degree in Social Work approved by one of the following regulators and current registration with one of the following Social Work England, Social Care Wales, Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) - in Northern Ireland, Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) - in Scotland or if qualifying after 2013, to have completed and passed the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment and five years relevant post qualifying experience of working in the UK. (Experience in a British Overseas Territory working under a UK model may be considered).
