HEALTH & SOCIAL SERVICES – Midwife

 Closing Date: 10 January 2025

 

Acting as an autonomous practitioner to provide caseload midwifery to women in the Falkland Islands in the ante, intra and postpartum period and including pre-conceptual care and support along with the health visitor in the subsequent months. Essential criteria includes a degree or equivalent enabling current registration with NMC or equivalent as a midwife, 5 years post registration experience, sound experience in a variety of midwifery settings in order to be best able to meet the variety of issues that arise in the Islands – able to provide midwifery care periconceptually, ante and postnatally and intra partum and in the ongoing months and a good written communicator able to maintain records in line with NMC and FIG guidelines and complete statutory reports as required.

HEALTH & SOCIAL SERVICES – Receptionist - Tussac House

To provide a welcoming, high-quality, front of house reception and administrative service to Tussac House colleagues, service users and visitors. Essential criteria include a good standard of English and Maths as evidenced by GCSE (or equivalent) with passes at Grade C or above (or equivalent), a current manual driving licence, Strong organisational and time management abilities, including the ability to work to deadlines and maintain accuracy in record keeping and the ability to maintain high levels of discretion and confidentiality, and has an understanding of why this is important.

 

Falkland Islands Infant & Junior School & Camp Education Teachers

Falkland Islands Community School Teachers

Deputy SENCo

Closing Date: 03 Janaury 2025 

The Education Department is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced Deputy Special Education Needs Coordinator (Deputy SENCo) to start as soon as possible.  The Deputy SENCo supports the SENCo to direct and support provision and intervention strategies within the 3 – 16 age range in the Infant Junior School and Camp Education and the Falkland Islands Community School. Applicants must be qualified teachers (recognisable in UK) who have preferably completed or are working towards the National Award for SEN Co-ordination; who have 3 years’ teaching experience and recent experience as a middle leader with whole school responsibilities in a UK or a British curriculum school.

Head of Courts

Closing Date: 03 January 2025

To be responsible for the administration of the Courts and Tribunals of the Falkland Islands and other relevant territories (South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands and the British Antarctic Territory). In this role you will lead a small team, including responsibility for training and supporting Justices of the Peace, managing the team of Coroner’s Officers, and assuming various responsibilities such as Registrar to the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal. Candidates must have at least 5 years’ postgraduate experience as a Barrister or Solicitor (or equivalent in any Commonwealth Country or the Republic of Ireland). Demonstrable experience in the Courts Service as a Legal Adviser to lay magistrates and/or as a legally qualified Clerk or Registrar to a higher court or other similar legal environment (or equivalent in any Commonwealth Country or the Republic of Ireland) is also required.

Court Legal Officer

Closing Date: 03 January 2025

To provide effective, high level legal, secretarial, administrative and support assistance to the Senior Magistrate and Head of Courts in the day-to-day running of the Law Courts of the Falkland Islands. Candidates must have a degree in law or a related subject, and experience of carrying out legal research. At least five years’ experience working in a secretarial or administrative experience, including 2 years’ experience of financial and budget management, are also required.

HEALTH & SOCIAL SERVICES – Dental Therapist

 Closing Date: 03 January 2025

 

This role is pivotal in delivering comprehensive dental care including both dental hygiene and therapy activities, and supporting the oral health of our diverse community. You will be required to perform dental hygiene and therapy procedures including examinations, radiographs, periodontal treatments, direct restorations, and deciduous extractions. Essential criteria for the role include Degree in Dental Hygiene Therapy, registration with the UK General Dental Council (or equivalent) and a minimum of three years relevant experience, ideally in a UK practice providing NHS care

HEALTH & SOCIAL SERVICES – Registered Nurse & Midwife

As a dual qualified and registered nurse & midwife provide quality care to patients, acting in their interests promoting health and contributing to the multi-disciplinary team including supporting women in the Falkland Islands in the ante, intra, and post-partum period.  Essential criteria includes a degree or equivalent enabling current dual registration with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council as a registered midwife and nurse, 7 years post registration experience, at least 2 years as a registered nurse and 5 years as a midwife.

HEALTH & SOCIAL SERVICES – Community Support Workers

The Community Support Team have vacancies for full time carers to work within their team. This work enables individuals within their care to achieve their optimum health through providing support to them and to the nurses, families, and other carers within the team.  Applicants must be literate and numerate with good basic IT skills, hold a manual driving licence and have at least 6 months’ relevant experience of working in a social care setting.
