LAW & REGULATION -  Head of Legal Services

Closing Date:  04 April 2025

 

The Opportunity:  You will lead the Legal Services Team within the Attorney General’s Directorate to deliver an effective and efficient legal and governance service to the Falkland Islands Government and to the Government of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands. As part of the Directorate’s management team you will support the leadership of the whole directorate, which comprises of Regulatory Services (including civil aviation and telecommunications regulation) and Registry Services.

Essential criteria for the role include being admitted as a solicitor or called to the Bar in a Commonwealth country or in the Republic of Ireland, a minimum of 7 years post qualification broad based experience including a good understanding of and an interest in public law and governance together with experience of advising local or national government on matters such as public law and governance and human rights, the law of contract, criminal law, tort and civil litigation.

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT -  Filtration Plant Mechanical Handyperson/Filtration Plant Operator

The Opportunity:  A combined role encompassing the purpose of the mechanical handyperson as a primary role with a secondary role as filtration plant operator as required to cover holidays and sick leave.  This is to ensure appropriate levels of cover in the shift system, while also filling the mechanical handyperson accountabilities. 

Essential Criteria include an NVQ 2 in water treatment or a minimum of two years relevant experience of working in a treatment plant or fluid processing unit.

EDUCATION DEPARTMENT -  Casual - Exam Invigilators

The Opportunity: To provide support to the exam team to ensure security and integrity of the exams processes. Give our exams’ candidates the highest level of customer care, and abide by the rules and regulations set by each examining body.

Essential criteria include GCSE Grade C/Grade 4 or above in English (or equivalent) and a minimum of 5 years administrative experience.

DEVELOPMENT & COMMERCIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT -  Operations/Flight Information Service Officer (FISO) FIGAS

Closing Date:  28 March 2025

 

The Opportunity: To undertake administrative, technical and supervisory duties, with particular emphasis on daily aircraft scheduling and making operational decisions (to ensure the smooth day to day running of the air service). To provide a Flight Information Service which ensures the safe operation of air traffic and ground movements for which Stanley Tower is responsible, including providing accredited actual meteorological observations for the production of actual reports (METAR’s). 

Essential criteria for the role include a good standard of secondary education, current valid driving licence. The successful candidate must also excellent customer care skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes, particularly Word and Excel.

HEALTH & SOCIAL SERVICES -  Pharmacist

The Opportunity: Manage and develop a pharmacy service that supports the delivery of high-quality primary, secondary and community health services, health promotion activities and self-care, by ensuring the safe, economic and effective use of medicines. 

Essential criteria include registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or equivalent professional registering body and a minimum of three years post registration experience.
