Director of Policy, Economy & Corporate Services

The Director of Policy, Economy & Corporate Services acts as the principal advisor responsible for the delivery of high quality, evidence-based and responsive economic, political and social policy, research, advice, strategy and policies to support the objectives of the Falkland Islands Government and deliver on priorities of the Islands Plan. Candidates must be educated to master’s degree level in a relevant subject area and 10+ years’ of senior management experience delivering complex, solution-oriented policy analysis and development relevant to a small island context.

Legal & Telecoms Support Officer

Closing Date: 09 December 2024

Provide wide and varied support to officers in the Law and Regulation Directorate, including Lawyers and the Communications Regulator, to enable the provision of a comprehensive regulatory and legal service to the Falkland Islands Government.  Essential criteria for the role include good customer care and interpersonal and communication skills, accuracy and attention to detail, knowledge and experience of microsoft office, a commitment to confidentiality, and a good general education with at least 4 GCSE Grade A-C inc. English and Maths, (or equivalent) and proven experience with standard office equipment and processes.

Emergency Services Control Room Operator

Closing Date: 06 December 2024

To be the first point of contact for the Emergency Services and the Maritime ship to shore radio service, including the efficient management of the telephone switch board and radio communication systems, accurately assessing non-emergency and emergency calls for assistance, the control and management of Government resources and receiving all visitors to Police Headquarters. Essential criteria include 5 GCSE passes at Grade 4+ or Grade C+ (or equivalent), a minimum of 5 years’ relevant administrative/clerical experience, the ability to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing, excellent ‘listening’ skills and a high-level computer literacy. The post holder will be expected to work during unsociable hours, including weekends and public holidays and work a designated shift pattern. This post will attract unsociable hours payments. Uniform will be worn and a polite and courteous manner is essential as the job holder will be, in the majority of cases, the first point of contact for visitors and callers. Whilst the position is ideally full-time to cover a period of maternity leave we would welcome casual applicants too.

This role will also involve working in several residential settings across the community.

Essential criteria include, a grade C or equivalent in maths and english, an appropriate level of safeguarding qualification, and at least 2 years relevant experience working in a health or social care setting.

Essential criteria include: a Level 3, (or above) qualification in Health and Social care, (or equivalent) and 5 years’ demonstrable experience supporting people with learning disabilities and other Special Needs.

Reserve Police Constable

To be part of a dedicated team, providing emergency and public protection service to the Falkland Islands community. Your duties will vary and will include a wide range of interesting challenges to maintain low crime rates, contributing to the prevention of incidents through thorough investigation and the detection of crime. In addition, you will contribute to keeping the peace and providing response to the community and other agencies through helping, advising, assisting, supporting and reassuring where necessary. Essential criteria for the role include GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C or above. Candidates not in possession of these qualifications are invited to sit the RFIP Entrance Examination (60%+ pass mark), or candidates that have passed a recognised Initial Police entrance examination can have this taken into account.

Seasonal Customer Service Officer (CSO) - FIGAS

 The Opportunity: The Falkland Islands Government Air Service (FIGAS) are looking for a seasonal CSO to work at the Stanley Airport.  The post involves providing excellent customer services, it will also include processing the passengers, baggage mail and air freight.  Essential criteria for the role include GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent) and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a clerical or administrative field.  Candidates must also have a valid driving licence.
