The Opportunity: The successful applicant will act on behalf of, and deputise for, the Harbour Master in their absence and, to provide support in the provision of delivering a maritime administration for the Falkland Islands.

Essential Criteria role includes a STCW 95 Mates 11/2.1 Chief Mates Certificate and at least 5 years’ relevant work experience in a variety of marine operations including experience as a Chief Officer / Deck Officer on foreign going vessels and a valid driving licence.

Deputy Harbour Master JD

Head of Fisheries Management

FIG Grade A: Starting Salary £57,716-61,756 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) with the potential for a higher starting salary for an exceptional candidate.

The opportunity: The Head of Fisheries Management is responsible for delivering timely and effective management of the various Falkland Islands licensed fisheries. They will lead on the creation and implementation of fisheries management plans, develop fisheries management and licensing policy initiatives, and provide leadership for the team responsible for the effective monitoring, control and surveillance of the Falkland Island Conservation Zones and other associated fishing activities.

Essential criteria for the role include a BSc in Marine Science, Fisheries Management or another relevant subject, or significant relevant work experience in an equivalent senior role, at least 10 years’ past work experience in fisheries-related activities in a similar role.

FIG Grade: This is a dual graded role depending on qualifications and experience, commencing from £29,482 - £33,832 per annum within Grade E2 (Licensing & ITQ Officer) or from £36,274 - £41,668 per annum within Grade D1 (Licensing & ITQ Manager).

The Opportunity: To manage the licencing of Falkland fishing activities in line with relevant Falkland Islands legislation and manage and maintain the Individual Transferrable Quota (ITQ) register, ensuring industry’s’ timely compliance with all requirements. The postholder may also be required to undertake Fisheries Protection duties (full training will be given).

Essential Criteria: A Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience), administrative work experience, the ability to work effectively in a reactive environment and provide a calm and measured response to emerging situations, excellent verbal communication skills, the ability to write clear and concise documents to a high standard including briefs, reports and general correspondence, excellent computer skills, the ability to learn new systems quickly and the ability to maintain excellent attention to detail even under pressure or when working to tight deadlines.

Offshore Petroleum Wells Lead

FIG Grade: A starting salary £57,716 – £86,131 per annum depending on qualifications and experience (plus 25% market supplement allowance).

The Opportunity: The Offshore Petroleum Wells Lead is responsible for regulatory oversight of all offshore petroleum activities associated with wells, including integrity, design, drilling operations, and decommissioning. The role involves assessing well designs, drilling programmes, suspension and decommissioning proposals, licence applications, technology plans and emergency response plans, with a strong emphasis on well integrity throughout the lifecycle of each well.

Essential criteria: A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience), IWCF level 4 accreditation, BOSET (CA-EBS)/MIST and OEUK approved medical certificates. Significant experience (10+ years) of industry experience in planning, delivery, operations and decommissioning of offshore oil and gas wells, with demonstrable expertise in the complex technical and operation challenges associated with well design, integrity, and abandonment techniques and a proven track record of analysing offshore wells plans and delivery, risks and performance and developing clear recommendations with supporting evidence.

The Opportunity: To lead all operations, regulations, guidance, and regulatory function under the Mining Ordinance (2005) for onshore minerals which includes (but is not limited to) Crown minerals, precious metals, calcified seaweed other minerals and quarried materials.
