12 January 2021 - Falkland Islands to receive Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine next month

The Falkland Islands Government is pleased to announce that it expects to receive 3,000 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine in the first week of February 2021.

12 January 2021 - Falkland Islands exempted from pre-departure Covid-19 testing for UK northbound flights

Yesterday the UK Secretary of State for Transport announced the introduction of pre-departure Covid-19 testing requirements for all international travellers to England from 04:00am on 15 January.

07 January 2021 - New FIMCo Supplier Support Scheme

Earlier today the Executive Council approved a new FIMCo (Falkland Islands Meat Company) Supplier Support Scheme for a modified export season. The modified season assumes that all lamb, yearling, beef and circa 22,000 mutton will be processed in 2021, supported by eight additional staff who will be employed locally.

This is the final weekly swabbing update of 2020, the next update will be on Tuesday 5 January, unless there is an urgent or critical need to communicate further in the meantime.

Today’s update on Covid-19 swabbing will be the penultimate update before the New Year – unless there is a significant or urgent need to communicate with the public before then.

15 December 2020 - Covid-19 arrangements during Christmas and the New Year

As thoughts turn to the festive season, the Falkland Islands Government would like to remind the public of the need to remain vigilant as visitors return to the Islands from overseas. The enhanced quarantine measures, brought into force on 16 November, require travellers to stay separate from others sharing their accommodation, unless they are quarantining together as a group.

Due to the national Bank Holiday on Tuesday 8 December, our weekly Covid-19 swabbing update is instead being publicised today.

02 December 2020 - COVID-19 Public Update

Since the last update on Tuesday 24 November there has been one further positive test result which is not in Stanley or Camp. The number of current positive results is two as two previous cases have made a full recovery and are now out of quarantine, having completed their 14 days of isolation and having tested negative twice for the virus, 48 hours apart.
