As previously communicated, the Falkland Islands Government has recently reviewed all available options in terms of making changes to our Covid-19 measures in a careful and measured way. Yesterday afternoon, Executive Council met to evaluate the proposed options, which included the latest public health guidance and legal advice.
The KEMH is pleased to announce children aged between 5 and 11 years old are to be offered their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine against Covid-19.
The KEMH is pleased to announce that a fourth dose (second booster) of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccination will now be offered to patients aged 75 and over; those patients in the highest risk category (i.e. those who are severely immunosuppressed) who received their booster in the last few weeks do not need to attend this session.
As we have all seen, Covid-19 restrictions are beginning to lift across the globe, including in countries with whom we are linked, and most of the devolved nations in the UK have adopted far less restrictive measures this month.
The Falkland Islands Government (FIG) has been informed that the permissions required to operate a compassionate charter flight between the Falkland Islands and Chile have not been granted by the Argentine authorities.
The Falkland Islands Government (FIG) can confirm that it intends to charter a flight to Chile from the Falkland Islands on Saturday 19 March 2022, returning Saturday 9 April 2022.

Today, Friday 11 February, the first case of Covid-19 has been identified within the Falkland Islands community. The person is fortunately well, asymptomatic and their swab result, while positive, was very weak.
