Government launches new vaccination page on Covid-19 website

As part of planning for the forthcoming Covid-19 vaccination programme, the Falkland Islands Government has launched a new vaccinations section on its dedicated website.

Currently the page features information on how to become a registered patient with KEMH to ensure that the hospital has up-to-date information to assist with vaccination planning.

This information is available in English, Spanish, Filipino and Shona.

We will be using the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) tier-based system to determine the order of priority for vaccinating the community, which is why people over 50 are particularly encouraged to ensure that they are registered with the hospital, ideally before the end of January.

The website also features a series of questions and answers about the vaccine which are arranged according to theme. This information is currently available in English, but will be translated into Spanish, Filipino and Shona shortly.

As we expect to receive the vaccines in the first week of February, our programme plans are now being finalised and the details will be communicated to the public via the website, local media and usual government channels. If approved by Executive Council, we aim to provide the first dose for people who are eligible for stage one of the vaccination programme in the week beginning 8 February.
