Tussac House construction contract awarded

The construction contract for Tussac House has now been awarded to local contractor RSK Falkland Islands Limited. The groundwork for the new community facility was completed in October 2020 and building work should begin in October 2021.

The contract is for the completion of the structural design, the supply and erection of the timber framed building, and installation of all internal services and finishes; the contract is worth £11.675m.  It is anticipated that the construction work will be complete by April 2023.

Jim Steele, Managing Director of RSK Falkland Islands Ltd, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this contract to construct this important facility for the local community. I’m very pleased that this project will continue our long-established partnership with the Falkland Islands Government, helping to build and improve the Islands’ infrastructure.”

MLA Ian Hansen, Chair of the Legislative Assembly, said: “This is a critical development for the Falkland Islands, as it will not only provide a permanent home for future residents who require additional assistance, but will also be an asset that can be used by the whole community. I’m very pleased that things are now moving forward and I look forward to the day when we can cut the ribbon and welcome people into the building for the very first time.”

Tussac House will be located on Ross Road East, overlooking the Narrows.  It will have three colour-coded wings named ‘Meadowlark’ (red), ‘Shearwater’ (blue) and ‘Siskin’ (green).
